Decent.

As a parody, it works. The first battle is kind of stupid, you could've use that smexy 16 attack one instead. Music was annoying, but sound effects were good. I would say that you should make the enemies have more than one attack.

Other than that, it's decent. This might have been a front pager if you had made the battles more detailed (more enemy attacks, weakness indications) and had some voice acting. I laughed at the lines, I can see my self uncontrollably pissing everywhere if it had been voice acted.

And also, the battle with the zombie is just plain ridiculous. I tried a crapload of combos and nothing could kill him. The only thing that got anywhere close was the molotov cocktails.

Also, I am mad at you for saying training battles help. I went back and did all of them 3 times, and nothing changed. The zombie wasn't any easier to kill, and I think I turned into a zombie in the process of trying and failing to defeat him.

THANKS KWING.

Kwing responds:

The first battle -was- stupid, but I wanted to dive into realtime on the first battle just to catch the player's attention, even if it was stupid.

Yeah, enemies definitely needed more than one attack. Next time I'll consider AI or a randomizer.

Battles needed a victory indicator or pauses badly, I got that.

Maybe I could get some voice acting done for this. I'd actually want you to voice some of them since you have such a sexy voice.

The zombies are easy. Do training battles at The Market and then use cocktails on the zombies. Training will increase your max health and damage, but it's like rolling a die. It increases randomly by 1 to 6. The only way to get more than that at a time is to beat the Superboss, which rewards a whopping 100 damage bonus and 100 max health.

Also if you wanna beat the boss, train until you can 1-hit training zombies, then spam Training and Arrow. You can get 3 dice 'rolls' per second if you're quick enough.

Horrible.

I usually don't vote on submissions based on how their other prequels/sequels were, but this is just bad.

Reincarnation OTSYD just seems like a gap filler. Just something to give your fans before the real release. I, was a fan of yours, and I feel left down.

This iteration includes very, very low quality voice recordings, unlike previous versions, the puzzle isn't good (morse code), and the graphics stink compared to older versions. Much of the game is presented with thick lines, which makes Riley feel out of place. You can't have something with thin lines interacting with thick lined objects, it just feels wrong.

The worst part is that you have an unsolvable morse code puzzle. There isn't even a walkthrough included, and that's just bad. I shouldn't be google searching "morse code" to figure out a flash game, that just, isn't done.

I'm sorry, I hope that Reincarnation 3 is just ALOT better than this gimmick. Better artwork, possible puzzles, better quality audio, everything. Please take this as the truth, I love B-Group, but this is a definite let down.

LiLg responds:

I'm sorry :(

In my defense, I thought i was doing the fans a favor.
PS - The demon's name isn't Riley. Riley is a Reincarny

Very Unique and Fun Concept!

I like it alot! The puzzles are all good for the most part, but there is one problem that is keeping me from rating this well. It's the timing. There are a few instances where it is impossible to win.

One is when you're nearing the last levels, it's extremely fast. The "Survive" one with the falling ceiling is impossible because the character moves way too fast for you to get under the safe part.

Second part is the survive near the last level. One with the spike rolling on the ground. It said survive, as soon as I started, I immediately died.

Most of it is good from then, but these tiny glitches prevent me from giving a perfect score. Other than that, awesome! I like all your elephant games!

Author, please read this review and respond!

Well, this is your first game. I'm also designing my first game for PC too, and it is also a platformer. Taking advice from other people and fixing my game on it, I'll help you out.

Gameplay: You have made a simple platformer, which is nice. The jumping and moving mechanics work pretty well for somebody who is probably only a teenager developing this. Graphics aren't too good, but nothing can be perfect, right? They aren't an eye sore, but they certainly are too plain to get you a high rating.

There needs to be some sort of acceleration for the game, because it feels to jerky at the moment. Jumping needs to be more responsive when you jump off of cliffs. For the scrolling levels, the camera needs to be zoomed out alot more. I also noticed some glitches with the paddles, what not... The biggest problem is with your level design. Some obstacles are just trial and error, and the difficulty is inconsistent.

Graphics, well... Decent. Glow is kind of nice, I guess. You can hand draw some stuff, maybe some terrain? Anything that works.

Presentation needs work. Obstacles will be unexplained at first and the music doesn't even play during the game. Some effects for the buttons might be nice, they'll get you a higher score, and I noticed you re-used the same levels but just put glow on them, that took off about 2 points for me because the last thing I want to do is play the same level over again.

All I can say is that it is a decent start, and maybe when you get better, we can collaborate. You can check my profile too for "Moovlin PC Demo V2".

SyndromeGames responds:

Well, personally, i think your score for me is a little unfair, but I am not one to judge. I really appreciate how much time you put into this review, and i will keep what you have said in mind. About the collab, If you are a good level designer, I would love to work with you! (Level Design, and Artwork are my weak traits.)

Great!

Very good! This might turn out big some day. I suggest you make the screen taller, make the car faster and make the scrolling smoother. Graphics are fine as is too. ADDICTING!

Kwing responds:

Thanks. I thought the car was pretty smooth, even if it moved slow.

Simple concept that is delivered really well!

I've seen this done in a few games like the ice caves in Pokemon for Gameboy, but never in Flash, so this counts as original. The difficulty curve is excellently set out and the controls are really smooth. Graphics are great and the quantity of levels is amazing.

The only thing that could be improved in my view would be the animations. They are fluid but a bit stiff.

A heavily copied game.

As you probably knew while developing this, many games like this have already been made. This is very similar to Portal Defenders and seems like almost a direct copy of Dad & Me. But let's forget about that and review this game as if it were the first of it's kind to be fair, and we'll address originality later.

I didn't like the menus too much. It took me a while to find out I was controlling with an icon, and it would have been much easier to have things highlighted when selected. The use of arcade style selection is nice, but I personally prefer using a mouse. You could have at least incorporated the ability to use the mouse.

I chose easy (little girl) mode to be introduced to a character to the name of Eddie Riggs. Wait, no.... Armed Prophet. The character mock couldn't be more obvious. The game controlled well for the most part and the artwork was very nice. Then I ran into some problems with the camera. It seems that every time you wanted to move, it would jerk around so you could see ahead of yourself. That's great and all, but in some areas it would just make me dizzy as I had to turn around alot.

The difficulty was what really threw me off. You can make a hard game, but there has to be some sort of learning curve for the player. Even on easy mode, I would get to the end of a level and destroyed by enemies surrounding me. There were even time where I was unable to move because of combos being put on me by 4 enemies at once. Some of the enemies like the UFOs were just plain cruel. On top of that, there were no lives, so the player couldn't just go back to where they died.

Overall, the game looks polished but seems to be annoying to the player. The levels feel really repititious and the only that saves them are the fantastic art direction. The music is hardcore too.

Back to the originality, this game lacks it. It seems like no effort was put into the game to make it stand out over other games, and I just can't give you a great rating for something that has been done before and done even better. If you coded the game from scratch, good job, now stop playing on the safe side and expirement some. That's what Newgrounds is for, to test ideas out and share your work. Coming here with a trace of the Mona Lisa still won't win you 10 stars

Nice.

You showed me a beta of it, I thought this one is good too. The guy doesn't bounce off walls and you made a few interactive mechanics in this one. I can't really judge though, seeing how the guy has very little moving space.

This is rather intresting, but I have a few quirks with it.

First off, I don't like the deceleration. You can make the guy slide up slopes when he slows down, which is weird.... He should only slide while going downhill or on a flat plain.

Second of all, the slide animation is kind of weird when you just tap the keyboard. It only goes to the stand animation when you have zero speed, so if you tap it, it goes to the run animation, then the slide animation, and then the stand animation, making it look like he's having a seizure.

I like it though, it's playable, you don't really have to take my advice as long as the player can operate the character fine, you've suceeded.

I also like the tutorial, so here's your 10/10.

Kwing responds:

Thanks! Maybe if you wanted the deceleration thing not to flash, you could alter the sliding display script a little. Perhaps if xmove was between -3 and 3. Whatever, your choice.

Not good, where you went wrong...

This game reaches out to set a new experience for the player, but has it? Not for me at least, but whatever.

Gameplay: It's a simple platformer, and it's smooth at that. But the real problem comes in with switch layers. I know you can't really die, but it's really annoying when you pretty much almost finish one of the last levels and then kill your self while you change layers in mid air. Sometimes, I just ended up falling into the ground and the entire game messed up. Luckily there is a restart button. It's nothing fresh and certainly isn't motivating for somebody to spend a lot of time with.

Graphics: I can't tell what look you were going for, but there are a whole bunch of other puzzle platformers that have executed this thoery much better. This is just too plain for me to get a message and the robotic feeling in it (rather than contributing to the fact that it is a community experience) makes it feel very empty. I finished the entire game to find myself rewarded with nothing meaningful.

Sound: This is the worst part, it's not even really music you have playing. I'm probably unlike most people though, as if I don't like the soundtrack to a game, I play my own. Luckily I could, but for the people who can't, this is a letdown. The music gave me a headache in it's stupid ominous loop. Again, I understand it's part of the feeling of the game, but it's lacking.

Overall: If you're looking for an experience in this game, you're at the wrong place. This game delivers you a complete un-emotional empty experience that a majority of people playing this will forget. However, if you're looking for a fun game to just play about, this isn't too bad. The layer switching is pretty original and some of the puzzles are out of this world, but there are many other games you could be spending your time with that offer your a better gaming experience.

Good!

I liked it, it's like a mix of Karoshi and Super Stacker! The physics worked well and the presentation was pretty classy too!

My only problem with it was the horrible music, but otherwise I think you have created a really addicting game here! You have a 5/5 vote from me! Also, check out my games!
